• In the 1600s and 1700s in Europe everybody wanted to have big hair [heə]. That’s why men and women wore wigs. Some people slept in wigs. They were so big. Nobody washed their wigs. That’s why insects ['ɪnsəkts] and rats lived in them.
• In Thailand ['taɪlænd] it was fashionable for women to wear neck rings. Girls got neck rings when they were five years old and then a new ring every year. But the rings made the neck very weak.
